WATCH: Beasley saves teammate from rage of Jason Maxiell

Michael Beasley couldn’t salvage his own NBA career, but he did save a professional Chinese basketball player from having his face caved in.

Michael Beasley calmed Jason Maxiell down after the former Piston chased after an opponent in the Chinese basketball league.

Jason Maxiell, a former Piston, landed in the Chinese professional basketball league this season after an NBA career founded on aggressive defensive play in the paint fizzled out. That side of him was on full display when he took issue with a cheap shot from Shandong Flaming Bulls player Wu Ke, according to basketballbuddha.com.

After the two got tangled underneath the basket, Maxiell took a vicious swing that Ke narrowly dodged. But the Bulls center quickly saw the anger bubbling in Maxiell, and he wanted no part of it.

Shandong Flaming Bulls player Wu Ke was lucky Maxiell didn’t land this punch.

Ke bolted for dear life and Maxiell gave chase, barreling through the referees and players trying to hold him back. The two ended up on the other side of the court before Maxiell was finally apprehended by Beasley, who was playing for the other team.

Maxiell spent eight seasons with the Pistons and now plays in the Chinese basketball league.

The former Miami Heat bust brought Maxiell in close for a quick pow-wow and was able to calm him down. Ke, who must have seen his life flash before his eyes, got as far away from the pair of NBA castoffs as possible.

Maxiel seems to have forgotten that he missed the Pistons bad boy era by a few decades.
