Broncos offensive lineman Ryan Clady blocks for Knowshon Moreno.

That was fast.

On the same day D’Brickashaw Ferguson made his retirement official, the Jets traded for his replacement. Gang Green has dealt for former Broncos tackle Ryan Clady, according to source. Gang Green is giving up a 2016 fifth-round pick in exchange for the tackle and a 2016 seventh-rounder, according to a source.

Clady, who has played seven seasons in the NFL, started 16 games last season for the Broncos.

Clady was scheduled to earn $ 9.5 million in 2016 and $ 10 million in 2017, but is re-structuring his deal, the Daily News learned. Gang Green had been talking with the Broncos and feared they had lost leverage once news of Ferguson’s retirement surfaced.

Brandon Marshall left the courthouse once the case went to the jury and did not return, so he was not in the room when the verdict was read.

Jets star Brandon Marshall won the civil suit levied against him by a California woman in Manhattan federal court for assault and battery on Friday.

Christin Myles, who accused Marshall of punching her in the face outside the Marquee nightclub on Mar. 11, 2012, sought damages for his medical expenses and her pain and suffering.

The jury deliberated for just over an hour before reaching a verdict in Marshall’s favor.

Asked if it was close, one juror said, “No.”

“The video was grainy,” the juror, who did not want to be identified, added. “There was argument that he may or may not have throw a punch. But there was no evidence that the punch is actually what injured her.”

Marshall left the courthouse once the case went to the jury and did not return, so he was not in the room when the verdict was read.

Myles was, and remained still as the jury indicated it had ruled against her.

Marshall’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, said Marshall “bears no ill will toward Ms. Myles.”

“He stands up for what he believes is right…and he wasn’t going to pay a penny to get out of this because he didn’t do anything wrong,” Steinberg said. He said he was bound by the court not to discuss if there had been a settlement offer but insinuated, based on his comments, that there had not been one.

Myles was seeking $ 75,000 in damages, but the jury ruled against her.

Multiple media outlets, including the Daily News, requested that the video of the alleged punch be distributed so it could be released. That has not yet occurred though it could in the coming days.

Marshall’s attorneys said in court they will file a motion to recoup costs from the trial.

Myles had been seeking $ 75,000 in damages.

Week 1: vs Jaguars (Aug. 11-15)

Week 2: at Washington (Aug. 18-22)

What’s the real problem in signing Fitzpatrick? Are the Jets really having salary cap problems? And what is there next option? — Robert M. Canuto @Romeca69

The sticking point is indeed money, but let’s dispel this notion that the Jets can’t pay Fitzpatrick because they are confined by the salary cap. The idea of “salary cap hell” is nonsense nine times out of 10. It certainly does not apply to the Jets right now.

Although they have a league-low in cap space (about $ 565,000), they can — and will — ultimately free up more cash to re-sign Fitzpatrick and get their drafted rookies under contract with a simple contract restructure or two if need be. We reported on Wednesday that the Jets approached D’Brickashaw Ferguson last week about a pay cut. The team specifically told Ferguson that the savings would help them bring back Fitzpatrick. There are also about a half dozen contracts that the team could re-do with garden-variety base salary-to-signing bonus restructures to free up cash.

Teams are rarely in true salary cap hell. If you want money, you can find ways to get it.

It was comical a few years ago when John Idzik was credited for getting the Jets out of “salary cap hell” after he took over for Mike Tannenbaum. All Idzik did was make the same few predictable cuts (Jason Smith, Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Eric Smith) that Tannenbaum — or any GM — would have done to clear space.

No, the issue with the Fitzpatrick case is pure valuation. The team believes that the player should be paid like a short-term answer, while the player believes that it’s fair to get the going rate for starting quarterbacks ($ 15-$ 18 million/year). There are merits to both sides of the discussion, but sooner or later, there needs to be a compromise. They both need each other for at least one more season. It makes perfect football sense for the team and player.

I would be stunned if Fitzpatrick isn’t back with the Jets. In fact, I’ll hitchhike home if … oh, never mind.

The Jets would play 10 vs. 11 before thinking about adding Johnny Manziel.Rich Schultz/Getty Images

The Jets would play 10 vs. 11 before thinking about adding Johnny Manziel.

Thoughts on Connor Cook in the 2nd round? Proven winner in a pro-style offense — Paul 718 @queensblvd19

Cook is an intriguing second-round option because of the qualities you mentioned, but there are a few things that might give teams cause for concern. I’ve heard some “interesting” off-field stories about Cook that I’m sure the Jets have too. One general manager recently told me he wouldn’t touch the guy because of some of those tales. Beauty, of course, is in the eye of the beholder. There are some folks in the Jets organization, who aren’t scared off. Cook has been terrific in his interviews in the past month or so. Frankly, I’ve been impressed from what I’ve seen from him in the run-up to the draft.

Some people, however, still can’t get past why a senior quarterback wasn’t a team captain.

Would the Jets look at Johnny Manziel under any circumstance? — Blake Harris @blakemharris

It’s dangerous to throw out absolutes this time of year, but I’ll say this with a great deal of certainty: The Jets would not sign Johnny Manziel if he were the last quarterback on Earth. They would literally play 10-on-11 and take their chances.

With Devin Smith coming back from the ACL injury, I think a deep threat at WR in Rounds 3 or 4 is a need. Your thoughts? — Ira from Staten Island:

I’d agree with you if the Jets had 12 picks like a few years ago, but picks will be in short supply in a few weeks. The Jets only have six selections as of now. Wide receiver is not high on their list. Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Quincy Enunwa and Smith are more than capable of being a quality group.

The team will be much better suited addressing offensive line and edge rusher in those premium rounds (Rounds 1-3).

Remember, the Jets invested a second-round pick in Smith last year. Although he had a forgettable rookie season littered with injuries, it’s way too early to give up on him. If Fitzpatrick returns, he’ll have to get more in sync with Smith. The two of them never really clicked. Smith’s strength, as everyone knows, is taking the top off the defense, so Fitzpatrick better loosen up his shoulder and be prepared to air it out.

Say all of the Jets take part in a Royal Rumble match. Who is the last man standing in the ring? — KayAitchVee @KayAitchVee

You definitely get points for creativity in the wake of Wrestlemania 74 (or something like that). There are some tough guys in the Jets locker room. Not going to lie: Mo Wilkerson frightens me. Sheldon Richardson is a beast. David Harris is a silent assassin. Breno Giacomini looks like someone who used to rough up kids in elementary school for their lunch money.

But there is only one right answer to this question. The toughest SOB on One Jets Drive right now (even though he is actually a very pleasant guy off the field) is Nick Mangold.

In a Royal Rumble of Jets players, Nick Mangold would be the last man standing.Seth Wenig/AP

In a Royal Rumble of Jets players, Nick Mangold would be the last man standing.

You don’t want to mess with Mangold. Just ask Antonio Cromartie, who got treated like a rag doll a few years ago after the cornerback’s ill-advised hit on Stephen Hill during a “friendly” training camp practice.

Mangold seems like he wouldn’t hurt a fly, but the guy is country strong (even though I don’t think he actually grew up in the country). He’s got Hamburger Helper Hands. That’s why I shy away from shaking them.

Mangold would outlast everyone in a Royal Rumble match. Lock it up.

TWO-MINUTE DRILL: Five Quick Hitters…

If Fitz doesn’t throw that pick to McKelvin in Week 17, is he 18 million dollars richer today? — Brian McGahan @BMcGahan88

Nope. That’s a silly way to look at it. The organization’s valuation isn’t based on one play or one game.

In a perfect world, who would the Jets love to pick in the draft? — beating the books @popthatcap

Mississippi tackle Laremy Tunsil. Well, at least that’s who I believe that the Jets should love to have.

Would/Should Gang Green trade Mo Wilkinson and No. 20 to Cleveland for No. 2… and hope Wentz is the man for 10 years? — Glenn Deibel @lennitt

Browns would never do that trade.

Mo Wilkerson being traded seems like a necessity considering the cap implications. What is his realistic value? 2nd and 4th? — Matt Martin @MHMartin2

You’re worth what a team will pay for you. The Jets want at least a first-round pick, but I would absolutely pull the trigger if I were Mike Maccagnan if a team offered a high second- and fourth-rounder. Alas, I’m not Maccagnan.

With a fair amount of needs and a lack of picks, do you think it would be smart for the Jets to trade down? — Andrew Golden @SOMETHINFUNNEE

Absolutely. That’s the smart move unless a player that you love slips to No. 20.

The Jets want 10-year veteran D’Brickashaw Ferguson to take a pay cut to help the team bring back Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The Jets hope that D’Brickashaw Ferguson can do them a solid to bring back Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The Daily News has learned that the team has asked the three-time Pro Bowl left tackle to take a significant pay cut to free up money to help re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Ferguson, who has never missed a snap due to injury in his 10-year career, is scheduled to count $ 14.1 million against the 2016 salary cap, but the organization would like cap relief for plenty of reasons, including increasing their financial flexibility to get back their starting quarterback, according to sources.

2016 NFL FREE AGENT TRACKER: FOLLOW THE FRENZY HERE

In fact, the brain trust has made it clear to Ferguson that a pay reduction would help the team bring back Fitzpatrick, who has been at an impasse with the club for more than a month after receiving a low-ball offer.

The Jets discussed their plans with Ferguson last week at the team facility, according to sources. The exact amount of the pay cut remains unclear, but the team would almost certainly prefer to free up about $ 4-$ 5 million. Ferguson, who was working out at One Jets Drive when the team approached him, is scheduled to earn $ 10.375 million in cash (base salary and bonuses) this season.

Ferguson, 32, could also decline an unreasonable pay cut request and force a release if he wanted to go elsewhere, but the sense is that he’d be amenable to playing on a fair reduced salary, according to sources. The third option is retirement.

“Right now, D’Brickashaw is under contract,” general manager Mike Maccagnan said a few weeks ago. “Our thought is that he would be (on the roster)… We’re trying to make decisions that are in the best interest of the organization – both short and long term – so right now I would say he would be on our roster going forward, but we’ll see how this thing unfolds.”

JETS DRAFT PREVIEW: 4 PLAYERS THAT MAKE SENSE

Todd Bowles also had a recent cryptic take about his veteran left tackle.

Fitzpatrick and the Jets are at an impasse in contract negotiations.Jeff Zelevansky/Getty Images

Fitzpatrick and the Jets are at an impasse in contract negotiations.

“Going forward, we’ll see how it goes,” Bowles said of Ferguson. “Right now, he’s on our team.”

The Jets flirted with free-agent Kelvin Beachum before the left tackle signed with Jacksonville. The Jets, frankly, don’t have any real alternatives to Ferguson. So, decision makers conveyed to Ferguson last week that they would like him to stick around and help build a winning team. They’re hopeful that a reasonable middle ground can be reached. The Jets do not want to release him.

The Jets’ pow-wow with Ferguson came after their inexplicable radio silence for months after the season ended. The silent treatment was peculiar for one of the most respected players in the Woody Johnson era.

Ferguson has played 10,357 out of a possible 10,358 snaps in 170 career games. He has never missed a game or appeared on the injury report. His declining skills, however, made a pay reduction inevitable.

FOLLOW THE DAILY NEWS SPORTS ON FACEBOOK. “LIKE” US HERE.

Ferguson has two years left on a blockbuster 8-year, $ 73.6 million contract. He is scheduled to earn $ 8.65 million in base salary, $ 1 million roster bonus and $ 750,000 workout bonus in 2016. The Jets would save $ 9.1 million by cutting him, but the team has made it clear that is not their intention.

The Jets have a league-low $ 565,000 in cap space, according to NFLPA records, but would get a much bigger cushion by slashing Ferguson’s salary. It would also give them a few extra million to put toward Fitzpatrick, who is obviously the team’s best quarterback option for 2016.

The Jets have taken a hard-line stance with Fitzpatrick by offering a less-than-market value deal relative to other starting quarterbacks. However, Fitzpatrick has not found a more lucrative option elsewhere, leaving both sides in a painstaking stare down for a month. Nobody has blinked thus far, but a reunion seems inevitable.

If the Jets are reasonable with Ferguson, they could have their left tackle and quarterback back in the fold.

Fasten your seat belts, bring seat backs forward and put tray tables away, it’s time to take off.

Around 300 young women — including this reporter — were ready to soar Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., for the 2016 New York Jets Flight Crew squad auditions.

To become a member of the elite cheerleading team, which accepts only about 40 topnotch dancers, candidates must climb through three rounds of auditions, plus an interview.

"During my performance, I made sure to smile extra-wide. The trick, I know, is to exude confidence, even if your stomach is turning upside down," said Daily News reporter Danielle Cinone.Jeff Bachner/for New York Daily News

“During my performance, I made sure to smile extra-wide. The trick, I know, is to exude confidence, even if your stomach is turning upside down,” said Daily News reporter Danielle Cinone.

Saturday was just the beginning for all of us hoping to cheer on Gang Green come football season.

Nami Ito, who has auditioned in the past but hasn’t quite made it, thinks she has a winning strategy this time, envisioning herself as already a member of the troupe.

“I learned that I need to prepare as if I’m going to be on the field,” Ito said.

The NFL must have international appeal, because the 25-year-old moved here from Japan four months ago, carrying the dream of wearing the Jets’ green and white.

“Keeping a strong, positive attitude is key,” said Jessica Swany, 23, of Long Island.

As a dancer and figure skater since elementary school, I know the sweat and tears that go into auditioning. It’s part of the life.

Before arriving at the tryout, I choreographed my dance moves and practiced in front of a mirror to ensure the judges would feel my energy.

When I first arrived at the stadium, I went through security and checked in, received my contestant number and pinned it on. Dancers trying out were required to wear a sports bra and shorts, dance tights and dance shoes of any type.

Once we placed our bags down in the Toyota Club overlooking the football field, it was time to stretch. I was surrounded by girls doing splits and high kicks and going over their routines.

A few girls stretched with me, including many novices who were finishing up college or starting careers, and experiencing the audition grind for the first time.

Then it was time to start.

“We are not looking at your flaws, we’re looking at what’s best in you,” Denise Garvey, the director of the Jets Flight Crew, said encouragingly.

She told the girls they would perform in groups of five and needed to introduce themselves by name, age and hometown, and provide an interesting fact.

I flipped my hair and danced for a whopping 90 seconds. It felt like an eternity.

After all the girls competed, we were given an hour break for the judges to discuss and choose who would make it to the second round.

Only 86 girls of 300 made the cut — myself included. I couldn’t believe I made it to round two. I was both relieved and excited.

Bruce Carter, seen here in action for the Cowboys vs. Giants in 2014, is joining Gang Green.

Despite dwindling cap space, the Jets are adding another linebacker.

Gang Green is signing former Bucs and Cowboys ILB Bruce Carter, according to a source. However, the Jets had just $ 719,647 in cap room heading into Saturday, according to NFLPA records, so they may have to make a corresponding move before this one becomes official.

Carter started three games and played in 14 for Tampa Bay last season. He started a combined 32 games over the four previous seasons with the Cowboys, so it’s possible the Jets will have him and Erin Henderson compete for the starting ILB job next to David Harris.

One way or another, the Jets are going to have pick up some more cap room. The two ways that would open up the most space would be trading Muhammad Wilkerson or cutting D’Brickashaw Ferguson. But instead, the team might opt to try and get Ferguson to take a pay cut and then restructure with some other veterans like Eric Decker.

The Jets may be in permanent ink on Stevan Ridley, but the RB is going to Detroit.

A year after getting the Jets logo tattooed on his arm, Stevan Ridley has officially departed from Gang Green. The free agent running back announced on Instagram Friday that he’ll be signing with the Lions after a disappointing year with the Jets.

It always seemed a little wild that Ridley got a Jets tattoo last offseason — after all, he did only sign a one-year deal with the team. And it was one of few Mike Maccagnan moves from last year that didn’t work out for the Jets.

Ridley, who was coming off of a torn ACL, began the season on the PUP list and missed the team’s first six games. When he did play, Ridley offered little value to the Jets, rushing 36 times for just 90 yards and zero touchdowns. The team actually gave him a season-high nine carries (for 29 yards) in its Week 17 loss to the Bills that knocked the Jets out of the playoffs.

The running back thanked his former team in his Instagram announcement.

“New York I hate that I couldn’t do more for you this past year, but the opportunity y’all gave me after my injury to do what I love the most.. I can never put a price on,” Ridley wrote. “Coach (Todd) Bowles you truly are a leader of men. The Jets Organization is on the up and coming, and I wish you guys nothing but the best.”

Ridley, a former Patriot, is the third Jets player to join the Lions this offseason, behind Jeremy Kerley and Darrin Walls. The Lions’ GM is Bob Quinn, a former member of the Patriots’ front office.

Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg completed 53.5% of his passes last season.

While the Jets remain in contract limbo with Ryan Fitzpatrick, the team will take a closer look at one of the top QB prospects at some point before the draft. The team will have Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg in for a pre-draft visit, according to a source. The date for the visit has not been set.

It’s no surprise that Gang Green is bringing in someone like Hackenberg for a visit. Firstly, every team gets 30 pre-draft visits and teams typically use a lot of those on potential early-rounders. And second, even if the Jets re-sign Fitzpatrick, the position is so important that it’s easily worth it for them to take a look at any quarterback that could be available to them. Bryce Petty might be a long-term option, but he really is an unknown.

Unlike Jared Goff or Carson Wentz, Hackenberg figures to be available when the Jets pick at No. 20 overall, and maybe later.

Hackenberg led the Nittany Lions to a 7-6 record last year, completing 53.5 percent of his passes for 2,525 yards along with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Not only did his regression the last two seasons likely hurt his draft stock, but he also apparently turned teams off by making excuses for his lower level of play. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Hackenberg blamed current Penn State coach James Franklin for his play the last two seasons, according to theMMQB.com. That might cause him to drop even further.
