Darrelle Revis was off his game in the Jets’ Week 17 loss against the Bills. Turns out it was his wrist.

No wrist, no reward.

Jets announced Darrelle Revis underwent a procedure on his right wrist Thursday and will be in a hard cast for the next two to three months.

Revis had a soreness in his wrist that lingered after the season which turned out to be torn a ligament.

He is expected to be ready for camp.

The cornerback began feeling soreness in his wrist in Week 3 of last season, according to a source.

Todd Bowles intimated at the Senior Bowl that the Jets’ gameplan vs. Bill receiver Sammy Watkins in Week 17 had to do with the health of his players.

Was Revis, who skipped the Pro Bowl due to a sore shoulder, not fully healthy for that game?

“Who’s to say he was or wasn’t,” Bowles said at the time. “I’m not intimating anything. I’m just saying that I made decisions based on things we could do or get away with in certain coverages. Whether we locked (Watkins) up or whether we played zone, we still have people underneath and over top.

“The guy made plays. You got to give him credit. He’s a good player too. Sometimes you get the rabbit. Sometimes the rabbit gets you.”

The Jets’ $ 70 million man was schooled by Watkins throughout most of that season finale which would have put the Jets into the postseason with a win. Watkins, who was mostly marked by No. 24, finished with 11 receptions for 136 yards.

Revis played soft coverage against Watkins, clearly wary of giving up a bomb.

“I think Revis knows, this kid’s got elite speed,” Rex Ryan said after the game. “There is no question about it and Revis wasn’t gonna get beat on top. So I think we thought we had a chance to throw the ball underneath a few times and we did.”

Todd Bowles didn’t place blame on Revis for the loss.

“No, a lot of those were zone,” Bowles said of Watkins’ catches. “You can’t read a game plan from man-to-man every play. We had some thrown things called and some people underneath. You can’t blame that all on Darrelle.”

We now know more about what Revis was dealing with that afternoon.
