Gary Jeter, former New York Giants lineman, dead at 61

Gary Jeter, former Giants defensive lineman who went on to star for the Los Angeles Rams, died Thursday. He was 61 years old.
The cause of death was not determined.
Jeter was an All-American at USC and joined the Giants in 1977. He played for Big Blue until 1982, but hit his stride after being picked up by the Rams. He had 11 sacks in the 1985 season and 11.5 in 1988.
In 13 NFL seasons, Jeter registered 52 career sacks.
