Cubs Kris Bryant pretends to be college transfer student
- Updated: March 18, 2016
Kris Bryant goes back to college.
The Cubs stud third baseman stopped in at Mesa Community College in Arizona, but not for some words of encouragement.
Instead, the Las Vegas native showed up to camp as a “transfer student” for the powerhouse baseball team; the Thunderbirds have made the playoffs 27 of the last 32 years and have been ranked in the top 10 in the country for more than a decade.
“He’s a big donkey, he’s got crazy power,” head coach Anthony Cirelli told his players.

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant went undercover as a European exchange student on the Mesa Community College baseball team.
“He can help us. Guys who are pitching are going to lose some innings. Guys who are hitting are going to lose at-bats. If he gets us to Oklahoma for the (College) World Series and we win another ring, no one’s going to be complaining.”
Bryant was introduced as Roy (short for Rookie of the Year) Nabryt (an anagram of Bryant) and immediately took to the batting cages, despite grumbles from his new teammates.
Some players remind each other that “we’re a family” while another assumed their new addition would be “soft.”

Instead, Bryant did exactly what he did at Wrigley Field all summer and blasted bombs over the outfield fence as his teammates stood in awe.
Eventually, the Thunderbirds recognized the dreamy third baseman, but not before he showed off his famous power.
The entire prank was orchestrated by Red Bull and Bryant gave away the trick before the college kids could get too upset about losing playing time.
