Cowboys QB Tony Romo is hurt against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday.

As if missing Dez Bryant for a chunk of the season wasn’t bad enough, the Cowboys injuries woes have gotten much, much worse.

Tony Romo suffered a fractured left clavicle during Dallas’ game in Philadelphia on Sunday with 9:44 left in the third quarter after fumbling and taking a hit from the Eagles’ Jordan Hicks.

Hicks landed right on top of Romo, who landed right on his left shoulder. He favored the shoulder as he went into the Cowboys’ locker room for an X-ray. Backup quarterback Brandon Weeden replaced Romo.

Romo is no stranger to injuries, especially the one he suffered on Sunday. He endured the same exact injury in 2010 while taking a hit from then-Giants linebacker Michael Boley during a Monday Night Football game in Arlington. Boley drove Romo’s left shoulder into the turf and broke his clavicle. That injury occurred in the Cowboys’ sixth game of the season, and Romo was out for the rest of the year.

That he suffered the injury once before explains how Romo seemed to know immediately on Sunday it was broken, as he appeared to tell a trainer such while he walked to the locker room.

This injury occurred in just the team’s second game of the season, and it’s not clear how much time he’ll miss, but it will certainly keep him out for the foreseeable future, perhaps a couple of months. That’s how long Bryant may miss after undergoing foot surgery during the week for an injury he suffered last Sunday night against the Giants.
