]]>The PGA Tour pro withdrew from the Bridgestone Invitational Thursday after taking his first tee shot, citing a sore shoulder.
Since he hit the ball, Berger is able to collect the $ 50,500 payout due to a last-place finisher in the 61-player event.
Seems like a savvy move. Tour players pay their own way, so he might as well collect the check rather than let 50 large slip through his fingers, right?

Well, Berger is now catching a ton of heat because if he had withdrawn before swinging — as Brooks Koepka did — the money would have gone to charity. Instead, it’s in his pocket.
Berger is having a nice season, with Top-10 finishes at the Masters and The Players Championship and scoring his first Tour win last month at the St. Jude Classic — which came with a $ 1.1 million payday and pushed his 2016 earnings up to $ 2.59 million. So making sure he got the 50 grand might seem a little greedy.
On top of that, daily fantasy players were in an uproar because they wasted a pick on the 23-year-old.
These are the same type of people who are all chapped that his girlfriend, Tori Slater, is good-looking.
These golfers, man. Tough life.

After the score, Duron Carter stormed to the sidelines, bumped Ottawa coach Rick Campbell to the ground and then defiantly stormed through the entire sideline of the opponent.

]]>Yoenis Cespedes, whose nickname translates to “The Power” hit a mammoth home run on Thursday night, taking Cubs starter John Lackey deep into the night and way up into the upper deck.
The shot was measured at 466-feet, but with the way the Mets offense has been going, the home run must have felt like it went twice that distance.

Cespedes got the Mets on the board after they trailed 3-0, a game they would eventually win 4-3 to snap a four-game losing streak.

]]>There were no spikes, bumps or sets, but each person took turns launching the ball over the net and doing their best to catch the heavy sphere. As if that wasn’t tough enough, Harrison and black and yellow teammates played the game in the Arizona heat.
The name of the game is “Danney ball,” which was created by a trainer named Ian Danney. The game usually consistes of a 10-pound medicine ball being thrown back-and-forth. NFL players use “Danney ball” as a full body workout in the offseason.
Harrison has played the game before and posted a video last year of him playing with fellow Steelers Robert Golden, Ryan Shazier and Vince Williams.
Athletes who’ve shown hatred towards commissioners
Despite the fact Harrison appears to get his strength from workouts like medicine ball volleyball, the NFL will soon be speaking to Harrison about his name popping up in an Al-Jazeera report that linked some NFL players to performance-enhancing drugs.
Harrison responded in an Instagram post saying he wants the interview done at his house, on the day of his choosing and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has to be there.

]]>St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainwright was inches away from approaching Randy Johnson-level infamy when he nearly pelted a bird in the second inning of the Cardinals’ game against the Royals Monday night.
The bird, oblivious to its impending danger with the three-time All-Star on the mound, flew directly in front of Wainwright’s breaking ball, somehow escaping past both the pitch and Royals’ Cheslor Cuthbert’s swing.

The scene was eerily similar to Johnson’s pitch that literally caused a bird to explode after it was hit with one of The Big Unit’s trademarked fastballs during a spring training game in 2001.
While Johnson was labeled as a “bird killer” and was threatened with legal action from PETA, Wainwright can breathe a sigh of relief knowing his run-in with a bird ended on a much lighter note.

]]>William “Refrigerator” Perry was once a hefty defensive lineman for the Chicago Bears that became beloved when Mike Ditka had the rookie line up on offense and run the ball. Perry, a 300-plus-pound defensive lineman, ran six times for three touchdowns in 1985 — including one in the Bears’ Super Bowl victory — endearing himself to fans across the nation.
But years later, Perry struggles with alcoholism, weight and money, according to a feature on the former Bears and Eagles lineman in Sports Illustrated. According to the story, Perry, now back in South Carolina where he grew up, weighs somewhere between 430 and 450 pounds. In 2011 he declared himself an alcoholic, and he’s still drinking.
He’ll park his car — a white Hummer H2 — in a shady spot or a driveway, drink from cups of vodka or beer and hold court. His size makes is nearly impossible for him to move from the driver’s seat, and, according to SI, his car reeks of urine because he either can’t control his bladder or can’t be bothered to find a restroom.

Perry suffers from diabetes and Guillain-Barré syndrome, an immune system disorder. He can’t feel from the shins down and says his hands are numb. He’s supposed to wear compression socks and orthopedic shoes, but he doesn’t. And he doesn’t really even try to take care of himself, avoiding physical therapy, for example.
He made plenty of money in his football career but it’s all gone now. He had to sell his Super Bowl ring for $ 200,000 a year ago, the story said, but Perry’s debts prevented him from getting any of that money. And to make matters worse, his family is squabbling over who ought to be taking care of Perry, who lives alone in a retirement home.

But despite all that, the Fridge claims he’s doing just fine.
“I’m home,” Perry said in the article. “And I’m happy. I can’t say everything is peachy keen, but I’m still enjoying life. I love Chicago, but there’s no place like home.”

“I’m my own man,” Perry added. “It’s simple. I ain’t never trying to be famous. I never, ever try to be extravaganza. I’m just a plain old country boy!”
But of course, to anyone else, it’s a much sadder picture. Perry’s old coach, Ditka, offered a sober take on his former player.
“It’s a great life wasted,” Ditka said in the story. “There’s no reason it has to happen. A bad deal? No, he got a great deal! In life you gotta help yourself. It’s tragic. I think he’s given up. And the question in my mind is, Why?”

]]>During the James Harden Basketball ProCamp last week, the All-Star guard embarrased and dunked on a young kid — and no one was happier than the defender.
In the video, Harden dribbles the ball between his legs while the youngster watches the Rockets shooting guard, trying to anticipate his next move. To his credit, the kid actually sticks with the four-time All-Star for a little bit. What happens next, however, he clearly did not see coming.
After a few crossover dribbles, Harden flicks the ball up over his back and into the air toward the basket. He then pretends to keep dribbling for a few seconds — knowing the young defender’s eyes are fixated on him and not the ball—before eventually racing past the kid and throwing down a vicious one-handed dunk leaving the kid and onlookers in awe.

Of course, this isn’t the first time an NBA star decided to show no mercy and take a kid to school. In early June, 7-foot Pistons center Andre Drummond swatted a young Danish boy’s shot into the audience during an exhibition basketball game in Denmark, leaving the announcer proclaiming Drummond as a “straight savage.”
Last summer, 76ers big man Nerlens Noel blew past a young camp-goer for an easy dunk. And in 2011, LeBron James famously dunked on a kid, knocking him to the ground in the process, while playing a game of knockout.

]]>A moronic fan draped in an American flag may have gotten his dates mixed up on Saturday when he hopped over the outfield wall at Safeco Field and narrowly avoided two Mariners outfielders converging on a fly ball in left-center field.
The shoeless, smirking buffoon raced through the gap between Seth Smith and Leonys Martin wearing what appeared to be a snug pair of swim shorts, riling up the Seattle crowd and interrupting the top of the fifth inning against the Cardinals before being tackled by stadium security.
The patriotic fool came dangerously close to causing a collision in the outfield.
